Annual General Meeting (AGM)

The group AGM will take place on Tuesday 19th October at 7.30pm in the upstairs room at the Cheshire Tavern, West Road, Congleton, CW12 4EY. All members are invited, and tea/coffee with biscuits will be available, as will drinks from the bar downstairs.

If you would like to stand for a post on the committee or put a motion forward, you are very welcome, so please let us know on ramblercongleton@hotmail.co.uk.

We will be sending out the agenda and last year's minutes by email, so if you or anyone you know wants a paper copy, please contact Liz on 07814 760 103.

Committee vacancy

In particular, we are looking for a new Footpath Secretary. This role is our link to Cheshire East Council which consults us on Footpath diversions, and the role gets involved with Don’t Lose Your Way and other footpath issues from Ramblers. There is some overlap with the Footpath Survey and Maintenance committee post which iscurrently held by Michael Dale, who will be available for support. For more information, please ask Michael or another committee member or email as above.

The formal role is:

  • ​Assessing and responding to proposals to change the path network

  • ​Working with other volunteers and Ramblers' offices when necessary, ​deciding the organisation's response

  • ​Representing the Ramblers at meetings and public events in your local area

  • ​Working with the rights of way volunteers across the area and its groups

  • ​Keeping up to date with legal and policy information about paths and planning ​issues nationally as well as in your own area

  • ​Representing the Ramblers' group on rights of way issues with the local ​authority, as required

  • ​Checking and assessing local paths, reporting any issues

Officer without portfolio

The committee would like to add a third member to the committee who does not hold a specific role so that more people can bring their general Ramblers experience to the committee.

Christmas meal

This will be on Sunday 5th December 2021, 12.30pm for 1pm, at the Manor House Hotel, Audley Road, Alsager, ST7 2QQ. It will cost £26 for three courses, £22 for two courses. We will let you know payment details nearer the time.
