We were all saddened to hear the news that Terry Cummings passed away aged 79 on Friday 27 March 2026. Many of us were aware that he had recently become quite ill, but were shocked to discover that he had been diagnosed with motor neurone disease just a few days before his death. Terry leaves behind 5 children and 8 grandchildren as well as his long-term partner, Oksana Newman. Oksana was a tireless advocate for Terry during his many medical appointments as they struggled to understand the cause of his illness, and a warm-hearted, empathetic, companion as his condition worsened over his final few months.
Terry was a cherished member of the Ramblers community, and a truly lovely man who we will all remember with great fondness. He was a member for nearly 30 years; he led many wonderful walks, whilst entertaining us with his great sense of humour.
There will be a wake to celebrate Terry’s life at a local venue in May/June, and a notice will be sent out to members once the location and date are finalised.
Terry will be greatly missed. We send our condolences and very best wishes to Oksana and Terry’s family.
We warmly invite you to the Congleton Ramblers AGM 2025. Please note the change of location for the AGM this year. It is to be held at Congleton Golf Club. Parking is free at the golf club. The meeting room is upstairs as is the bar which will be open from 6.30pm serving tea/coffee/ acoholic and non alcoholic drinks. Please do join us not only for the AGM but also before and/or after the meeting to catch up over a beverage.
* You will note from the agenda that there is a vacancy for Membership Secretary. Trish Montgomery has (sadly for us) decided to step down from this role. Trish will be very much missed on the committee and will be a 'hard act to follow' however if you are interested in taking on this role please do not let this stop you 'applying', showing interest or discussing the role with Trish herself or any of the committee. The committe is a very hard working group, however they are extremely supportive and welcoming and do a fantastic 'job' for Congleton Ramblers and always with positivity and a sense of humour and team spirit. They are a great group of people to work with.
