50th Anniversary Celebrations - 29th July, 2023

Astbury Village Hall was booked on Saturday July 29th at 5pm to celebrate 50 years of the Congleton Ramblers!  Earlier in the afternoon there were 3 walks from 3 to 10 miles (TBD) which all ended  together for food, cake, and drink to celebrate.  There was also on display some memorabilia from the last 50 years and a chance to catch up with friends old and new.

On Sat June 17th a repeat walk of the first Congleton Ramblers walk in our first programme from 1973, was held!  Teggs Nose to Lamaload, 8.5 miles.

We also hope to arrange a walk/day out at Malham Cove in September, details to be announced soon.

1) Members of Congleton Ramblers, Margaret Baker (35 years) and Brenda Coldham (43 years) cutting the cake.

2) Ramblers celebratory cake for  their 50th Anniversary!

3) Alan Wrench, walk Leader and member of the ramblers for 39 years talking to John Peck, present Chairman of Congleton Ramblers

Offa's Dyke

Over the next few years we hope to complete Offa's Dyke trail.  This is a 177 mile trail from Prestatyn to Chepstow.  Each leg will be 15-20 miles long.  We plan to do the first leg on July 15th Prestatyn to Moel Arthur in one day via car sharing.  The next leg will be on Aug 26th.  Full details will be included in our walk programme later this year.  If you have any queries or are interested please contact me.

Steve Jones

Hello Everyone

On 16th February, 2023, I received the sad news of the death of one of our long-standing members Steven Jones.Sadly, over the last few years illness and the risk of catching Covid prevented him from joining our walks.Steve was a lovely man he was always friendly and cheerful he led many walks for our club. He will be sadly missed by all of those who knew him.

May he rest in peace. - Ivor

The funeral is on Monday 6th March 2023 at 3.30 pm at Macclesfield Crematorium.  After the funeral there is a wake at Congleton Cricket Club. We are sure lots of us will want to pay our respects to Steve, many of us walked with Steve over the years and it was always a pleasure to be in his company as he was truly lovely happy person.
